Advanced Utility Training
|
Utility Fuel Buyers must formulate a nuclear fuel procurement strategy that results in the assured supply of competitively-priced fuel. While, historically, the emphasis has been placed on achieving the lowest-cost fuel, more recently the focus has shifted to assuring future supplies. This change is reflected in the UxC Seminar. The UxC Nuclear Fuel Procurement Seminar is designed to assist you in achieving this goal by providing an advanced understanding of factors affecting market price formation, supply source availability and supplier motivation, RFQ and contract practices, and methods to establish an effective procurement strategy.

Seminar Overview
The UxC seminar follows a unique format that takes place over a three-day period. The first day is devoted to an examination of current market and industry trends - in uranium, conversion, and enrichment - as well as profiling the primary suppliers in each market. The second day is turned over to guest speakers, including representatives from the supply industry, who provide their perspective on the supply situation as well as their experiences in fuel procurement.
The third day returns to the UxC instructors focusing on contracting options and the contracting process. The afternoon session takes a look at various factors that are involved in implementing a procurement strategy. The seminar concludes with a question and review session, which pulls together all of the topics presented and summarizes how they fit together to form a procurement strategy.
Over and above the focus on fuel procurement strategies, current market information is used throughout the three-day course. Future price forecasts are presented and discussed for each of the three front-end markets. Historical perspectives are mixed with future outlooks to provide seminar attendees with UxC's distinctive viewpoints of the nuclear fuel markets.
The seminar is structured to provide numerous opportunities for questions, both on a formal and informal basis. These discussions will allow the attendees to get the maximum benefit from the UxC staff and guest speakers. To encourage this dialog, attendance at the seminar is limited and is available only to utility personnel.
Seminar Materials
UxC has prepared a binder of information that will be presented to participants at the onset of the seminar. Participants will use this binder during the seminar to follow the discussions, as well as to add any pertinent information. Afterward, it will serve as a valuable reference source.
Target Audience
The UxC seminar is targeted with a primary focus on utility nuclear fuel buyers, but operating engineers to corporate VPs will definitely benefit from this comprehensive three-day course. Anyone that is, or will be, exposed to fuel procurement will take away a new perspective.
